How do I start a disk drive eradication session?
NOTE: Before starting an eradication session, make sure the logs and reports folders are empty and if not, please empty them.
1. Check box next to desired drive to eradicate.
2. Clicking the top box above the number of drives will select ALL drives.
3. Select eradication method by clicking the drop-down menu next to desired drive.
NOTE: Using the drop-down menu at the very top will select the same eradication method for every drive, but only the drives with their boxes checked will go through the eradication process.
4. Click the blue “Start” button at the bottom to begin the process.
5. A pop-up window will then ask if you are sure you want to eradicate these drives. Click “OK” to continue.
NOTE: While the software is designed to hide the platform's internal disk drive(s), it is good practice to double-check. The internal drives will always have “ATA” as the vendor, but there may be instances when external drives show that they are also “ATA,” usually after some type of pass has been run. In order to determine which drives are internal, you can start the Revert Eradication Application with no external drives attached and the one (1) or two (2) drives that show up will be the internal drives. MAKE SURE NOT TO SELECT THE INTERNAL DRIVES AS THIS WILL ERASE THE OPERATING SYSTEM AND SOFTWARE!
