How long does the eradication process take?

It depends on the type and capacity of the disk drive, as well as other factors that include but are not limited to the following:

1. How many drives are simultaneously connected and processing.

2. The manufacturer and model of the disk drives.

3. The type of disk drive, e.g. fibre channel (FC), serial attached SCSI (SAS), serial ATA (SATA).

4. The disk drive's rotational speed, e.g. SAS 10K versus SATA 7.2K.

5. The disk drive's interface speed, e.g. SATA I (1.5Gb/s), SATA II (3.0Gb/s), SATA III (6Gb/s).

6. The host bus adapter (HBA) interface speed, e.g. SAS2 6Gb/s versus SAS3 12Gb/s.

7. The mix of drives, e.g. if you have SAS and SATA drives processing at the same time, or if you have Seagate and Hitachi drives processing at the same time.

8. The specific eradication method, e.g. 3 pass versus 7 pass overwrite, overwrite versus block erase.

9. Hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid state disks (SSDs).
